This is a story of 16 year old boy who lost his family on May 2nd in Myanmar. I got this in people Magazine.
I'm the eldest of six brothers and sisters. We live in a village. May 2 went by normally, my parents and us grown up children worked on the farm. We were preparing our evening meal when the wind blew down our little house. Water quickly flooded the surroundings, so we decided to move to a church located on high ground. We had to bottle the wind, rain and rising water. To make sure we stayed together, we tied ourselves to each other with a homemade coconut rope. The rope broke. Only my mother and i were still joined. the other were washed away. I grabbed my mother. When we hit a tree that was floating by, the impact weakened my grip. Then i lost my mum. I was terrified. As i was clung to that tree through the night. I was submerged many times. By morning the water had receded. I saw nothing where my house used to be, so i headed to the church. I didn't notice i was naked. someone gave me a shirt. I'll find some job in a nearby city. I don't want to go back to my village. It's now like a cemetery for me.
